Reactive/Aggressive Dog Rehabilitation

Reactive/Aggressive Dog 1If you’ve ever owned a reactive dog before, you know firsthand how hard it is.  It’s not just the reactions themselves that are the problem, but the amount of anxiety, embarrassment, and frustration we feel when we’re trying to mitigate the issue and nothing is working.  Not only do we have lots of experience working with reactive dogs, but our trainers have been in your shoes before.  We have been frustrated, confused, and embarrassed of our reactive dogs before and that’s part of the reason we are passionate about helping you!

Every dog and person is unique.  That’s why every program not only includes training but also a personalized training and wellness plan that fits your needs.  We start our clients with a consultation where we can go over your goals, lifestyle, and more to better figure out what you need from us.  For most reactive/aggressive dogs, the best approach is a hybrid program comprised of board and train or day train days followed by private lessons.  We also have our Reactive Dog Camp which is a board and train program that allows for more one-on-one time with a trainer and extra private lessons so you can learn to continue your results at home.

Are we a good fit for you?

Our ideal client is empathetic, hard-working, and wants to build a genuine connection with their dog.  The truth is that when it comes to aggression and reactivity, there is no quick fix.  We know that giving your dog a better life is a process and it can be very hard.  While we are here every step of the way to help, most of the actual change happens from you working one-on-one with your dog.  Without you, we can’t make real change!  So long story short, we will be a good fit for you if you’re ready to put in the work and can trust the process along the way.

Can old dogs learn new tricks?

If puppy training is the foundation that behavior is built on, adult dog training is the house itself.  When dogs are adults, they have full processing capabilities that younger dogs do not.  They are extremely adept at picking up patterns, understand cause and effect, and have distinct personalities that are now fully evolved.  That allows us to dive in and create plans that are suited for them.

So the short answer is, yes!  Training is possible with older dogs and we love working with them.  It takes more personalization at older ages, but that’s part of what makes it worthwhile to hire a trainer!

What can we do for you?

We are very proud to offer an array of programs based on your and your dog’s unique needs!

Our dog training programs help establish socialization with other dogs, train vital obedience commands, and teach you how to build a connection with your dog like no other.  We can’t wait for you to get started!

Reactive Dog Camp

Reactive/Aggressive Dog 2Our reactive dog camp is a 21-day board and train program for dogs 9 months and older.  This program is ideal for dogs with behavioral issues including extreme fear, reactivity, and resource guarding (just to name a few!)

This program allows for extra time daily with a trainer as reactivity takes more time and dedication to get through in a short time.  This program also includes the most private lessons of all because we know so much about training reactive dogs is about educating their owners.

Why pick a board and train?

Board and training allow us to set the foundation for your dog’s training in our facility while also boarding with us overnight.  Board and trains provide the strongest result possible out of all of our programs as they allow us to set new habits with your dog that you can then maintain with a fresh slate as they transition back to your home.  You are never left out of your dog's training.  Once they are complete, we teach you how to maintain it at home!

This program includes:

  • 21 days of training
  • 21 nights of resort-style silver or independent care boarding in a deluxe suite with a run. Details on our lodging accommodations are here: Dog Boarding Lewisville, Carrollton, Frisco, Plano Texas - Paw Oasis PetResort
  • 3 hours of social play OR 1 enrichment service daily
  • Advanced training equipment
  • A host of trained concepts & commands personalized to your unique needs.
  • 5 private lessons, one at the end of the program and another 4 as follow-ups
  • A lifestyle & wellness plan
  • A report card every 3 days
  • FREE lifetime support in our Facebook community - COMING SOON

Day School

Reactive/Aggressive Dog 3For some dogs, we can tackle behavioral issues with a day school instead of a board and train!  This is ideal for people who want to spread out the cost or for people whose dogs attend daycare regularly already.  While we have no set behavioral programs for day school, our talented training staff can create a program custom-fit to your needs.

Why pick a day school?  Day schools are our most popular training program at Paw Oasis!  A day school allows your dog to get one-on-one training with a professional (similar to a board and train) while also allowing you to enjoy your pup at night!  While results may not be as strong as with a board and train, a day school allows your dog to get started on their training with little effect on your busy schedule.  In addition, ALL of our programs include hands-on instruction for you, the human.  Once the program is complete, we teach you how to maintain your dog’s training with you and at home!

These programs typically include:

  • X days of training
  • Full days of social play daily OR enrichment services daily
  • Basic to advanced training equipment
  • A host of trained concepts and commands personalized to your unique needs.
  • X private lessons
  • A report card daily
  • FREE lifetime support in our Facebook community - COMING SOON

Private Lessons:

Reactive/Aggressive Dog 4Private lessons allow you to learn how to train your dog with the guidance of a professional.  With our private lessons, we work one-on-one with you to teach you how to achieve the goals you have for your dog.  While it may require more commitment from you, the owner, it gets you involved in your dog’s training from the jump!

Private lessons include:

  • 1 hour of private training with a professional
  • A training plan for you to continue following at home

For a dog to complete the equivalent of an reactive training program, we recommend a minimum of 10-15 lessons!
