Why Puppy Training?
So, you just adopted a puppy. They are cute and fun but also a lot of work. Maybe you’ve considered training or maybe you think your puppy will “grow out of” some of their bad habits.
The truth of the matter is that while raising a puppy, we are training them whether we realize it or not. Each and everything we do with them during puppyhood teaches them what they need to know for the rest of their lives. Energy levels may go down, but habits are being built now with your puppy and it is much harder to break bad habits than to create good ones from scratch.
Will the training stick?
As long as you are dedicated to change, yes! All puppies will go through regressive development periods as they age and come into their own, but everything will fall back on the foundation they learned in the first development periods of their lives. Dogs who come in later for training can still learn, but it will be less imprinted into their behavior than a dog who learned during their early development periods.

Our trainers know that every dog and person is unique. That’s why every puppy program not only includes training but also a personalized training plan that fits your needs. We start our training clients with a consultation where we can go over your goals, lifestyle, and more to better figure out how we can offer you a personalized training program. In addition to training, every program includes free consultations with your trainer over common puppy nuisance behaviors; nipping, jumping, potty training, and more!
Our puppy programs help establish socialization with other dogs, build a strong training foundation, and stop bad behaviors. We guide you through the critical first few months of your dog's life and teach you the necessary skills to help your relationship start on the right foot.
Puppy Board and Train
Our puppy board and train program is a 14-day, on-leash program for social dogs younger than 9 months. Board and train programs allow us to set the foundation for your dog’s training in our facility while boarding with us overnight.
Why pick a board and train?
Board and train programs provide the strongest result possible out of all of our programs as they allow us to set new habits with your dog that you can then maintain with a fresh slate as they transition back to your home. In addition, ALL of our programs include hands-on instruction for you, the human. Once the program is complete, we teach you how to maintain your dog’s training with you and at home!
This program includes:
- 14 days of training
- 14 nights of resort-style silver-level boarding in a deluxe suite with a run. Details on our lodging accommodations are here: Dog Boarding Lewisville, Carrollton, Frisco, Plano Texas - Paw Oasis PetResort
- 3 hours of social play daily
- Basic training equipment (i.e. collar and leash)
- A host of trained commands personalized to your unique needs. Typically includes sit, down, place, stay, out (leave it/drop it), greeting skills, name recognition, wait + door manners, indoor recall, and let's go (loose leash walking).
- 2 private lessons, one at the end of the program and another as a follow-up
- A lifestyle & wellness plan
- A report card every 3 days

Puppy Day School
Our puppy day school program is a 10-day, on-leash program for puppies. Similar to daycare, your dog attends training daily in our facility and goes home to you at the end of the day.
Why pick a day school?
Day schools are our most popular training program at Paw Oasis! A day school allows your dog to get one-on-one training with a professional (similar to a board and train) while also allowing you to enjoy your pup at night! While results may not be as strong as with a board and train, a day school allows your dog to get started on their training with little effect on your busy schedule. In addition, ALL of our programs include hands-on instruction for you, the human. Once the program is complete, we teach you how to maintain your dog’s training with you and at home!
This program includes:
- 10 days of day school
- Full days of dog play daily
- Basic training equipment (i.e. collar and leash)
- A host of trained commands personalized to your unique needs. Typically includes sit, down, place, stay, out (leave it/drop it), greeting skills, name recognition, wait + door manners, indoor recall, and let's go (loose leash walking).
- 2 private lessons, one at the end of the program and another as a follow-up
- A report card daily

Forever Puppy Program
Our Forever Puppy program is a unique program that takes your young dog from puppy training through to adult dog training! Designed to grow with your dog’s development stages, this program is perfect for the person who wants to set their puppy up for success and have an exceptionally trained dog by the time they reach young adulthood! This program is also great for those who want to spread out the cost, as each segment of training can be paid piecemeal!
This program includes:
- 21 days of training
- 21 nights of resort-style silver-level boarding in a deluxe suite with a run.
- 3 hours of dog play daily
- Advanced-level training equipment
- A host of trained commands personalized to your unique needs. Typically includes sit, down, place, stay, out (leave it/drop it), off+greeting skills, name recognition, wait + door manners, off-leash recall, go-to-place, quiet, and let's go (loose leash walking).
- A total of 5 private lessons, one at the end of each phase and 2 as follow-up lessons
- Report cards every 3 days while boarding and training
- A temperament test + subsequent lifestyle and wellness plan during each phase of training

Phase 1 - Puppy Pre-School
- Begins with a 5-day board and train
- Starts somewhere between 2-5 months (the earlier the better!)
- Focuses on imprinting the leash, teaching your dog to follow you, introducing recall, and introducing the basic obedience commands they will need as an adult
- Includes a full temperament evaluation + subsequent lifestyle & wellness plan
- Includes navy seal type confidence building exercises for puppies. Examples include exposure to different temperatures, textures, surfaces, and more!
- Includes AKC (American Kennel Club) STAR (Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility) testing & certification
- Ends with 1 follow-up lesson so your trainer can teach you what your pup has learned
Phase 2 - Puppy Intermediate School
- Begins with a 7-day board and train to focus on your puppy moving into adolescence
- Starts somewhere between 5-10 months
- Focuses on formal leash training, recall training, and adding more expectations to previously taught obedience
- Continues to push confidence building and recall due to development stage (fear impact II and flight instinct)
- Includes an updated full temperament evaluation + subsequent lifestyle & wellness plan
- Includes AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing & certification
- Ends with 1 follow-up lesson so your trainer can teach you what your pup has learned
Phase 3 - Puppy High School
- Begins with a 9-day board and train to focus on your dog’s move from adolescence into adulthood
- Starts somewhere between 12-18 months
- Focuses on cleaning up obedience, building high expectations for commands, and moving into off-leash work/advanced training
- Includes an updated full temperament evaluation + subsequent lifestyle & wellness plan
- Includes AKC CGC Community Canine testing & certification
- Ends with 1 follow-up lesson so your trainer can teach you what your pup has learned.
- Also includes 2 additional follow-up lessons so we can work through any issues and set your dog up for success!
